Museum Awarded SBC Excelerator Grant

The Joliet Area Historical Museum has received a $5,000 grant from the 2003 Excelerator competitive technology grants program of the SBC Foundation. The grant will support the Museum's "Collection Documentation and Access Improvement Project." The project enables the Museum to begin to put its collections information on a computer database which can be accessed by Museum visitors and through special mini-virtual exhibits created for the Museum's website.

The Joliet Area Historical Museum is one of over 100 non-profit organizations selected to receive a grant from this SBC program. For more information about the Collections Document project, please contact Walt Keener, Curator, at the Museum 815-723-5201, ext. 233.

TCF Bank has awarded the Joliet Area Historical Museum a grant to sponsor free Family Fun Days during 2003 and 2004. The first Family Fun Day will take place Sunday, December 7, 2003, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Come build a Tollhouse Cookie House using baked cookie walls that you bring from home and frosting mortar and holiday decorations the Museum will provide. Program is FREE but advanced registration is required. Please call 815-723-5201, ext. 235 to register and for directions on making the cookie dough for the house.
