The Joliet Area Historical Museum, (JAHM) a fully interactive, modern museum facility located in the heart of Joliet’s historic City Center, seeks an experienced, resourceful, and reliable individual to serve as its part-time Maintenance Supervisor. The Museum property is owned by the City of Joliet. Background check required.

Position Summary:
You will act as the front line in monitoring the Museum’s physical plant, regularly inspecting electrical, HVAC, plumbing and A/V systems; You will possess the know-how and ability to quickly troubleshoot, repair and/or contact suitable vendors to address physical deficiencies in the Museum; You will perform and/or supervise regular facility cleaning and event/programming setup, teardown, and cleanup, at times directing ancillary staff and outside vendors.

The successful candidate will:
Possess demonstrative experience in a pertinent field (building maintenance, janitorial, construction, trades, etc.)
Possess the physical ability to lift >50 lbs. and access all points of the Museum facility, in some cases utilizing a ladder or accessing small, restrictive spaces.
Be expected to act as the Museum’s primary emergency contact.
As the Museum facility is the property of the City of Joliet, act as maintenance liaison between City staff and their outside vendors when needed.
Inspect, maintain and diagnose the Museum’s interactive exhibits, many of which are circa 2002 custom construction and contain electronic/computer components of similar vintage.
Supervise and direct third party cleaning staff (3x weekly); periodically coordinate site access with JAHM maintenance vendors.
Recommend short and long term facility upgrades to Building Committee/Board of Directors, and Executive Director, in some cases with the City of Joliet’s annual budget.
Identify and purchase maintenance, electronic, and exhibit support equipment as needed/approved within a limited budget.
In line with guest expectations and experience, ensure all components of the facility are “museum quality” in appearance and function.
Possess an affinity for JAHM’s mission, and maintain mutual professional conduct with co-workers and all Museum stakeholders, commensurate with JAHM’s reputation as a visible, inclusive community cultural arts institution.
Be expected to assist other Museum staff as directed/requested as hourly requirements allow.
